Transplant Professionals

Dear Transplant Professional,

If you could save a child’s life simply by making a phone call, would you?

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is ready to help you give your patients a second chance at life.  With more than two decades’ experience raising funds to assist families with transplant-related expenses, COTA is the premier fundraising organization for families facing an organ, bone marrow, cord blood or stem cell transplant.  COTA works with children and young adults up to age 21, who need (or have had) a life-saving transplant.  COTA also can work with patients of any age who need a transplant due to a genetic disease such as Cystic Fibrosis or Sickle Cell Anemia.

Over the years, COTA has assisted more than 1,500 families from throughout the nation, representing every ethnic, economic, religious and social background.  Working and guiding volunteers nationwide, COTA has raised more than $55,000,000 for our patients’ transplant-related expenses.  Along the way we have shared tears, we have conquered huge obstacles, we have celebrated miracles, and every day, we have hoped.

COTA will work closely with volunteers in your patients’ home communities to ensure funds are raised ethically and used appropriately.  Because COTA is the trustee and the manager of the money raised, these funds are not taxable income and do not jeopardize the family’s participation in assistance programs.  Additionally, COTA offers challenge grants of up to $10,000 to each patient fundraising campaign.

COTA’s team of professionals will guide your patients through every step of the fundraising process including:

  • Organizing and training volunteers.
  • Planning successful events and activities.
  • Working with the local media.
  • Using online, web-based resources for communications and fundraising.
  •  Finding multiple sources of funding.

Are you ready to let COTA help your families?  To begin a COTA fundraising campaign, ask your families to:

  • Complete and sign a Patient Agreement.
  • Complete a Family Information Form.
  • Ask their transplant physician to complete the Medical Information Form.
  • Recruit three key volunteers and complete the Volunteer Information Form.

COTA’s services are completely free of charge, and the funds generated by a COTA campaign are available for almost any transplant-related expense.  COTA is ready to begin working with your transplant families.  Please feel free to call us at 800.366.2682 or click now to Request Information about COTA to see how we can give hope and make miracles for your families.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rick Lofgren, President

Making Miracles:

“The fact that a team of surgeons was able to take a kidney from a 55-year-old grandmother and place it into her infant grandson is nothing short of miraculous.”
