Transplant Families

Dear Friend,

If you could save your child’s life simply by making a phone call, would you?

The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is ready to help you give your child a second chance at life.  With more than two decades’ experience raising funds to assist families with transplant-related expenses, COTA is the premier fundraising organization for families facing a life-saving transplant.  Families from throughout the nation, representing every ethnic, economic, religious and social background, have worked with COTA.  Along the way we have shared tears, we have conquered huge obstacles, we have celebrated miracles, and every day, we have hoped.

COTA will guide you and your volunteers through every step of the fundraising process including:

  • Organizing and training your volunteers.
  • Planning successful events and activities.
  • Working with your local media.
  • Using online, web-based resources for communications and fundraising.
  • Finding multiple sources of funding.

COTA provides information to your community to assure them the funds raised for transplant-related expenses are raised ethically and used appropriately.  Because COTA is the trustee and manager of the money raised in your community, these funds are not taxable income and do not jeopardize participation in assistance programs.  Additionally, COTA offers each patient fundraising campaign a challenge grant of up to $10,000.

Are you ready to let COTA help you?  To begin the campaign, you will need to:

  • Complete and sign a Patient Agreement.
  • Complete a Family Information Form.
  • Ask your transplant physician to complete the Medical Information Form.
  • Recruit four key volunteers and complete the Volunteer Information Form.

Once you return these forms to COTA, we will contact you to discuss your fundraising needs.  Then COTA will begin the fundraising campaign by contacting your key volunteers to begin their training.

COTA’s services are completely free of charge, and the funds generated by a COTA campaign are available for almost any transplant-related expense.  COTA is ready to begin working with your volunteers immediately.  Please feel free to call us at 800.366.2682 or click now to Request Information about COTA to see how we can give hope and make a miracle for your family.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rick Lofgren, President

Giving Hope:

“COTA provided hope for our family by showing us that money should not be an obstacle when faced with a transplant … COTA provided hope for our family in the form of encouragement and support to our team of volunteers who worked tirelessly to raise funds for transplant-related expenses.”
